My work, informed by 20 years of practice and training in a variety of approaches, helps people explore and work through habitual patterns, self-beliefs or an unexpected crisis.
I support clients to treat themselves with compassion rather than judgment.
I obtained my MSW from NYU Silver School in 2004, training in New York City agencies that provided care to individuals and families experiencing serious mental illnesses and limited access to care. I have practiced both in the United States, as well as abroad in New Zealand/Aotearoa working as a clinical leader in dual diagnosis (mental health/substance abuse) care.
A bit of background
How I work
My practice style is best described as eclectic. I have a strong background in attachment based psychodynamic practices. As a Level 1 trained IFS clinician, I work with my clients as a collaborator, exploring their inner landscapes. It is my belief that Internal Family Systems (IFS) heals in a way few therapeutic interventions do.
“IFS is a loving way of relating internally (to your parts) and externally (to the people in your life), so in that sense, IFS is a life practice, as well. It’s something you can do on a daily, moment-to-moment basis—at any time, by yourself or with others.” Richard Schwartz, No Bad Parts
My work is rooted in mind/body techniques to support healing through a trauma informed lens. In the office, you will find my style to be warm, conversational and engaged. I am deeply committed to supporting those clients living on the margins of our society. My practice is an active space of decolonization. To this end, if ever a client does not find my style or approach right for them, I work tirelessly to support the discovery of a therapist who is.
